Coffee, Cats & 1,208 Happy Endings at Black Forest Cat Café 🐾☕️

Today I decided to check out a place right here in Fort Wayne that combines two pretty great things: coffee and cats!

I’m spending part of my day at Black Forest Cat Café, and as a professional pet sitter, I absolutely love the idea behind this place.

Black Forest isn’t just a coffee shop. They have a separate Cat Lounge filled with adoptable cats looking for their forever homes. And here’s the part that really got me:

They have now helped 1,208 cats find new homes! ❤️🐱

That is 1,208 cats who got another chance and 1,208 families who found a new furry member to love.

So, how does a cat café work?

You can stop in just like a regular café and enjoy a drink or something to eat. You can even watch the cats through the large windows separating the café from the Cat Lounge.

But if you want some actual kitty time, you can pay $10 for a 55-minute visit in the Cat Lounge. Reservations are recommended because they limit the number of people allowed in with the cats at one time.

And no—you don't have to be looking to adopt!

You can simply go in, relax, play with the cats, give them some attention and enjoy 55 minutes surrounded by furry little faces.

Of course, if one of those faces happens to steal your heart... that's another story. 😂❤️

There's a bigger purpose behind all that cuteness

The cats at Black Forest Cat Café come through Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control. Before joining the café, the cats are health checked, vaccinated, tested and spayed or neutered.

The café basically gives these cats a temporary home where they can socialize with people and other cats while waiting for someone to choose them.

I love this because being able to spend time with a cat in a relaxed environment gives you a chance to see some of their personality. Are they playful? A lap cat? Independent? Curious? A little shy until they get comfortable?

And every person who visits gives these cats more human interaction and socialization while they're waiting for their forever family.

And yes... there's coffee! ☕️

I couldn't visit a café without trying a drink. Mine was an iced coffee topped with whipped cream and caramel—and it definitely didn't disappoint!

Whether you go for the coffee, the cats, or both, I think this is such a fun little Fort Wayne experience.

But what I love most is the mission behind it.

1,208 adoptions is a pretty incredible number.

As someone who spends my days caring for other people's pets, I know just how much these animals become part of our families. Seeing a local business create a place where homeless cats can be loved, socialized and ultimately matched with families is something worth celebrating.
